OFFICIAL STATEMENT, National Organizers

On January 21, 2017 we will unite in Washington, DC for the Women’s March on Washington. We stand together in solidarity with our partners and children for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families — recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country.

The rhetoric of the past election cycle has insulted, demonized, and threatened many of us–women, immigrants of all statuses, those with diverse religious faiths particularly Muslim, people who identify as LGBTQIA, Native and Indigenous people, Black and Brown people, people with disabilities, the economically impoverished and survivors of sexual assault. We are confronted with the question of how to move forward in the face of national and international concern and fear.

In the spirit of democracy and honoring the champions of human rights, dignity, and justice who have come before us, we join in diversity to show our presence in numbers too great to ignore. The Women’s March on Washington will send a bold message to our new administration on their first day in office, and to the world that women’s rights are human rights. We stand together, recognizing that defending the most marginalized among us is defending all of us.

We support the advocacy and resistance movements that reflect our multiple and intersecting identities. We call on all defenders of human rights to join us. This march is the first step towards unifying our communities, grounded in new relationships, to create change from the grassroots level up. We will not rest until women have parity and equity at all levels of leadership in society. We work peacefully while recognizing there is no true peace without justice and equity for all. HEAR OUR VOICE.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

This is an INCLUSIVE march, and EVERYONE who supports women’s rights are welcome.

PLEASE SHARE, we need to spread the word everywhere! And there are groups forming for EVERY STATE, so search for your local group as well!

We especially need HOSTS and ORGANIZERS from marginalized communities for this to be truly inclusive, please DM your state administrator to get involved!

az republican calls for forced sterilization of women on welfare

Original article – http://tinyurl.com/on5nsor

“You put me in charge of Medicaid,” Pearce told one caller, “the first thing I’d do is get [female recipients] Norplant, birth-control implants, or tubal ligations. Then, we’ll test recipients for drugs and alcohol, and if you want to [reproduce] or use drugs or alcohol, then get a job.”
I have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that there are people in this “modern day and age” who still not only have thoughts like this but are in positions where they can put those thoughts into action. It’s equally frustrating that people like this former senator don’t seem to understand that what they’ve said was actually very judgmental, misinformed and potentially oppressive in actual legislation. They only react to the negativity they receive, working on damage control as the article points out rather than re-evaluating the issue itself.
Here’s a novel idea – aren’t politicians supposed to be public servants? Maybe we should demand that they subject themselves to all of the oppressions they keep trying to use against everyone not them.

an understanding of our world

Over the past few months I’ve been collecting headlines and images dealing with women – our bodies, our rights, how influential people talk about us, etc, etc. This is just a small sampling, but that doesn’t make any of these items less horrid. Take a look. Judge for yourself whether or not there’s a war on women.

feminism from pat robertson

This man is a moron, and each time he opens his mouth he paints himself more and more in this light. Recently, he told his followers on the popular “700 Club” TV show that gays in San Francisco are you to “getcha” with a ring that will cut you when you shake their hand and thus get AIDS. I don’t know whether to laugh at his stupidity or cry because people actually watch him, listen to him, believe him. This is a man who mainstream Christianity lets speak for all of them; this man is one of their role models. c

we are feminists

Feminism is not a bad word, or at least it should not have a negative cogitation. It’s simply the idea that women are people too, and should be treated with the same respect, and have access to the same rights, as male counterparts. It’s not hard to see that women are suffering in our world for being female.

Why We are Feminists

if the fetus you save is gay will you continue to fight for its rights?

If the fetus you save...This poses a simple and very serious question, and one to which many pro-lifers do not have a good answer for. The core values behind the pro-life movement are derived from Christianity, which is also anti-gay. It is not acceptable to both demand that women carry fetuses to term without regard for their own well being and desires, and then to also offer no support to the fetus once it is born (to say nothing of women after they carry unwanted fetuses to term; but that’s another issue). If the fetus you save becomes a little boy who wants to play with Barbies and in his teens begins to self-identify as a homosexual, will you then judge him and call him an abomination? Will you harass him and threaten him, this child you destroyed at least one other life to allow a chance? Will you try to cure him?
